A Legacy of Lifesaving
Established in 1931, Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Surf Life Saving Club stands as the northernmost beacon of safety in the Hunter Branch.
Our dedicated volunteers tirelessly patrol the beach from September to the April school holidays, ensuring the well-being of our community. With a rich history and a commitment to vigilance and service, we continue to be a pillar of strength and safety in the Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens area.
Join Our Dynamic Team
We are on the lookout for new members to join our surf rescue efforts. Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or someone with a keen interest in first aid and life support, there’s a place for you in our club.
Excitement can be found in our jet-ski and Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) operations. For those looking to compete, we offer a range of surf sports, from beach flags to surf boat rowing, with opportunities to compete locally, nationally, and internationally. Our Nippers program nurtures young lifesavers, teaching them essential beach and surf skills and guiding them towards our senior ranks and the prestigious Bronze Medallion Award.

Role of Member Protection and Information Officer
The Member Proection Information Officer plays an important role in Tea Gardens Hawks Nest SLSC.
He/She provide information and guidance on complaints procedures and are the first point of call in the club for any enquiries, concerns or complaints about harassment, abuse or other inappropriate behaviour.

At Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Surf Life Saving Club (TGHNSLSC), our commitment to saving lives, serving our community, and developing future leaders is stronger than ever. That’s why we’ve developed a detailed Strategic Plan for 2025–2030 — a roadmap designed to strengthen our club and the important work we do across patrols, training, surf sports, and community engagement.
This five-year strategy places our members at the heart of everything. From expanding training programs and surf sports opportunities, to increasing volunteer involvement and fostering stronger relationships across all levels of government and emergency services — this plan ensures our club is well-prepared for the future.
We’ve also set bold, clear objectives to grow our membership, promote mental health awareness, expand our facilities, and develop inclusive programs that reflect the evolving needs of our community. Through targeted actions and annual reviews, we will continue to improve our lifesaving capability, community involvement, and governance standards.
